Mieczyslaw Manterys was born in Miroszów. He attended elementary school there and then in Parkoszowice near Miechów, residing with his grandfather Florian in Sławice.
In Krakow, he graduated from the Professional Metallurgical College. For one year he worked in Metal Works Precision Mechanics in Kraków. In 1954, the need to resign from the job made him return to Miroszów to assist his parents in running the farm after his sister Regina’s departure.
In 1957 he was called to serve compulsory military service, which lasted two years. Over the next years lived with his parents. In 1964, after the farm was liquidated, he moved with his parents to Ursus and worked in the local Mechanical Works “Ursus” for nine years.
Next he started his own business as a taxi driver. At the age of 65 years he retired, but still worked up to 2001. In 1965 he established his own family by marrying Helena Konieczna, whom he met in Miroszów where she worked as a teacher in the local primary school.
Daughters Dorota and Agnieszka live in Warsaw, and Małgorzata in Belgium.
