Maria Regina Bielawska (Manterys) was born in Miroszów. She attended primary school there and in Racławice, and enrolled in the high school in Miechów. After completing the first year she left school because of her parents’ difficult material position and the need to assist them in running the farm. During her stay at home she became involved in social work with youth.
In 1955 she married Witold Bielawski who came from the same village. Because he was a sailor by profession they moved to Gdynia where he worked. Because of her husband’s long absences from home, she did not take up further studies nor paid employment, but wholeheartedly devoted herself to running the home and organising family life. Energetic and practical, she had the skill to attract people from various walks of life.
In the year after their marriage she gave birth to their first daughter. All three girls (Bożena, Danuta and Anna) received an appropriate upbringing and education, as well as help in setting up an independent life of their own.
Maria Regina died from cancer in 1984.
